Objectives
The purpose of this program is to strengthen capacity to prevent disease, disability, and death through immunization and control of respiratory and related diseases. The specific objectives may include, but are not limited to: 1. Increase the population of children and adults who are free from respiratory infectious disease complications. 2. Strengthen local, state, and national capacity for the early detection, investigation, response and control of respiratory infections in order to accelerate early recognition of respiratory threats and to mitigate the impact of their spread. 3. Control the rise in antimicrobial resistant respiratory infections in the community. 4. Strengthen prevention and control of respiratory infections in institutional settings, such as health care facilities and workplaces. 5.
