We look at the differences between the two SLFRF reporting periods.

Recipients of the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF) first reported on how they were spending the money in January 2022. Reporting took place a second time in April 2022. Here we look at some of the key differences between the two reporting periods and how local governments are spending the money.

Making sense of prime and sub-recipient data.

Prime recipients receive money directly from the federal government. They may then pay some of the money they received to other entities for goods or services. These entities are sub-recipients.

PRAC Posts State and Local Pandemic Spending Data, Shedding More Light on How CARES Act and American Rescue Plan Act Money Was Spent

Michael E. Horowitz, Chair of the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (PRAC) announced the public release of updated Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) spending by states, eligible local governments, Tribal governments, the District of Columbia, and U.S. Territories.

State and local governments spent $150B. Then got $350B more. Follow the money.

The $350 billion Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF) included in the American Rescue Plan provides direct payments to eligible state, local, territory, and Tribal governments for local pandemic response efforts. These payments are in addition to the $150 billion distributed in March 2020 from the CARES Act.

State and Local Pandemic Oversight Reports Now on PandemicOversight.gov

Today, Sandra D. Bruce, chair of the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee’s (PRAC) Federal, State, and Local Coordination Subcommittee, announced that pandemic oversight reports by state and local agencies are now available in the Reports Library.

How did states, cities, and counties involve their communities in the allocation of pandemic relief funds?

We partnered with the National League of Cities for a nationwide look at local governments’ use of community engagement strategies to understand their residents’ needs during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. We heard directly from local government officials and subject matter experts about how state and local governments made sure pandemic relief funds were spent the way their residents wanted.
