Our analytics support in the investigation of Blueacorn, a fintech company that facilitated small business relief loans, expanded the investigation from 210 to 1,596 potential subjects and increased the estimated fraud loss from $13.6 million to $111.5 million. The investigation resulted in 10-year sentences for each of the co-founders.

Investigations by the PRAC Fraud Task force—made up of more than 50 agents from 16 OIGs—resulted in 134 subjects being charged, 92 sentencings, 22 civil settlements, and more than $111 million in monetary recoveries.

We collaborated with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) OIG to develop dashboards for three FCC pandemic relief programs totaling nearly $11 billion. The dashboards enable investigators and auditors to identify potentially risky entities, enhancing the effectiveness of program oversight.

Executive Director Ken Dieffenbach testified before Congress on our efforts in fraud prevention, detection, and mitigation which have recovered more than $500 million in taxpayer funds. He also testified alongside PRAC Chair Kirk on our work overseeing pandemic small business relief funds.

We launched an Advanced Data Analytics section on PandemicOversight.gov highlighting our case studies and fraud alerts. These updates advance our Strategic Plan for 2025-2030 and strengthen public awareness of our mission to prevent improper payments and fraud in federal spending.
