Unemployment Insurance Benefits - Public Report
During the COVID-19 pandemic, unemployment in Colorado and nationwide led to an increase in claims for benefits. For example, the Department received 1,100 percent more claims in Calendar Year 2020 than it received in Calendar Year 2019.

Citywide Coronavirus Relief Funding
The objective of our audit was to assess the city’s financial controls related to the initial federal aid Denver received for its pandemic response efforts. This audit specifically focused on the $126.9 million the city received from the federal Coronavirus Relief Fund. The audit found that, in 2020, the Department of Finance sufficiently managed the city’s progress in spending federal coronavirus relief funds on pandemic-related expenses, but the city should also better document individual transactions. Included herein is the Statewide Financial Audit Report of the State of Colorado for the Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2020. The audit was conducted under the authority of Section 2-3-103, C.R.S., which authorizes the State Auditor to conduct audits of all state departments, institutions, and agencies.
