William W. Kirk Appointed Chair of CIGIE's Pandemic Response Accountability Committee

Today, Tammy L. Hull, Acting Chair of the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE), announced the appointment of William W. Kirk, Inspector General of the U.S. Small Business Administration, to serve as the Chair of CIGIE’s Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (PRAC). Mr. Kirk will replace outgoing Acting Chair Michael E. Horowitz, Inspector General of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, who has led the PRAC since April 2020. Ms. Hull appointed Mr. Kirk pursuant to Section 15010 of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”).

The PRAC promotes transparency and supports oversight of the funds provided by the CARES Act, other emergency coronavirus-related spending bills, and the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. In addition to its coordination and oversight responsibilities, the PRAC is tasked with supporting efforts to “prevent and detect fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement [and] mitigate major risks that cut across program and agency boundaries” within its jurisdiction.
